IT Project Manager - Cybersecurity

About the role:
Gen3 seeks an experienced IT Project Manager - Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support our federal clients. The IT PM SME will have extensive experience working with Information Security Officers and Managers, be well versed and experienced in NIST RMF and CSF, and will hold at least one professional certification. The successful candidate will have leadership experience supporting Security Assessment & Authorization (SA&A), Annual Control Assessments (ASCA), and Event-Driven Security Control Assessments (E-D SCA). He/she will provide technical management and oversite for helping our client meet applicable NIST 800.37, 800.53 requirements by integrating cybersecurity into the client’s System Development Lifecycle.
Note: This is a remote position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Serve as the senior technical leader and expert for client-facing Cybersecurity Team
- Assess impact of new cybersecurity laws, regulations, policies, and guidance on federal client’s Security Assessment initiatives.
- Review, assess, and update agency policies, guidelines, SOPs, to ensure they align with the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives, as they relate to SCAs.
- Provide expert-level guidance and consulting to improve assessment results, adapt to industry trends, and identify areas for efficiency gains via automation
- REQUIRED: Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology project and program management, systems integration, or enterprise IT modernization.
- REQUIRED: At least 8 years must be in a senior leadership or program management role, overseeing large-scale, complex IT initiatives—such as enterprise transformations, multi-agency programs, or mission-critical system implementations.
- REQUIRED: Demonstrated experience and expertise providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise across all phases of IT project lifecycles.
- REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- DESIRED: Master’s degree in a related field.
- DESIRED: Project Management Professional (PMP) or DAWIA PM Level III certification
- DESIRED: Current or recent staff-like access at Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
